'A person is a person through other people' strikes an affirmation of one's humanity through recognition of an other in his or her uniqueness and difference. This idealism suggests to us that humanity is not embedded in my person solely as an individual; my humanity is co-substantively bestowed upon the other and me. Humanity is a quality we owe to each other. We create each other and need to sustain this otherness creation. And if we belong to each other, we participate in our creations: we are because you are, and since you are, definitely I am.
Michael Onyebuchi Eze

But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
-Paul, 1 Corinthians 12:24-27, NIV

For he himself is our peace. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit..
-Paul, Ephesians 2:14, 15, 17-19, 22

Ubuntu speaks of the very essence of being human. If you say "Hey, so-and-so has ubuntu." Then you are generous, you are hospitable, you are friendly and caring and compassionate. You share what you have. It is to say, "My humanity is caught up, is inextricably bound up, in yours." We belong in a bundle of life. We say, "A person is a person through other persons."
-Desmond Tutu
