Wine: God makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate—bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.
-Psalm 104:15

We need to turn this story itself into a good, strong drink and inhale its bouquet, roll it around our mouths, savour its aftertaste, the multiple resonances of good news, of gospel, of glory, the glory of God…
-Theologian NT Wright

Give us this day our daily bread.
-Jesus, Matthew 6:11, NIV

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
-Isaiah 55:1-2

In the little Cana town, the word went all around: He turned the water into wine!
-Johnny Cash

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
-John 2:9

Beer is made by men, wine is made by God.
-Martin Luther

Wine is like the incarnation, both human and divine.
-Paul Tillich
