"I don't really like that word," he tells senior writer Brian Hiatt in his band's first Rolling Stone cover story. "It comes with so much baggage. So, no, I wouldn't call myself a Christian…”
Marcus Mumford, Rolling Stone, March 2013

“But I'll still believe though there's cracks you'll see,
When I'm on my knees I'll still believe,
And when I've hit the ground, neither lost nor found,
If you'll believe in me I'll still believe”
Mumford & Sons, Holland Road, Babel

“You are the God who sees me…
I have now seen the One who sees me.”
A lost in the wilderness woman named Hagar in Genesis 16:13, NIV

“Hear my cry for mercy
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
toward your Most Holy Place.”
Psalm 28:2, NIV

“Keep the earth below my feet
For all my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Oh keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn”
Below My Feet, Mumford & Sons, Babel

“Meanwhile, God heard the boy crying. The angel of God called from Heaven to Hagar, “What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. God has heard the boy and knows the fix he’s in. Up now; go get the boy. Hold him tight. I’m going to make of him a great nation.”
Genesis 21, MSG

“Raise my hands, Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head, Keep my heart slow”
I Will Wait, Mumford & Sons, Babel

I'm very happy to see recognition of this bands message being interpreted to your congregation. I am a non believer who listens to Mumford regularly understanding the message and have been curious if the translation has been made. My critique would be only be that your lead singer take his hands out of his pockets and actually try to help with this transition. He seemed obviously annoyed by the song choice of "I will wait." This is something that turns me off of actually attending service. The disconnect between service and devotions. I very much liked the sermon but there was no heart in the performance. Regardless, thank-you.
