“And to think you were midwife at my birth,
 setting me at my mother’s breasts!
 When I left the womb you cradled me;
since the moment of birth you’ve been my God.”
Psalm 22:9-10, MSG

“It’s an other worldly experience. Nothing compares to the privilege of giving life and the responsibility of that; nothing!”
Nadine Goodman, Public Health Specialist, on child bearing. From the video, The Business of Being Born

“For you have been my hope Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
 I will ever praise you.”
Psalm 71:5-6 TNIV

“I am the guardian of safety and the witness of your process… the body is smarter than me…”
A midwife on the nature of her role, The Business of Being Born

“He wasn’t with me the whole time…”
A woman re: delivering via an obstetrician, The Business of Being Born

“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
 When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
 All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
 How vast is the sum of them!”
Psalm 139:13-17, TNIV

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”
Romans 8:22, TNIV

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you. Matthew 28:20. I love how you said "God is always with us, no one is closer...always". through the pain, through the miracles, through the healing, always...I have a dream to one day become a midwife, perhaps because my experience of being pregnant and giving birth was so delicious for me. I've never felt so close to God, to myself, to life. Pre- and post-natal care - forever and ever - AMEN!
