Media @ New Hope CalgaryMoney, does money matter to God? Is their a connection between our spiritual life and our values concerning money and possessions?

In Matthew 6:21 we read, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Ecclesiastes 5:10, Solomon talks about the abuse and misuse of money. He says, “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. ”

In an article published by The Banner entitled, God’s Economy or Ours? Gert Kollenhoven, a financial advisor in Ontario for 30 years writes,
“God’s economy is totally different from the one we have created and have come to accept… It is based on the premise that everything we have and possess is only under our control for a limited time. As stewards of God’s earth, we don’t possess what we have. But often we behave as if we are the owners of our possessions instead of the stewards.”

Illicit money is money that's been stolen from God... it's still his and justice (we hope) restores it to its rightful ownership.

If all money is God's money, what about the money made by "blood diamonds", or the money stolen by the Nazi's from the Jews to finance their death machinery, or money made from human trafficking? Can the church, or anyone for that matter, "launder" bad money into good money? Where your treasure is, there your heart is also....

On the way home from hearing this message, we were stopped at a traffic light and a chap came by with his sign, "hungry, anything will help, God bless". I usually ignore this sort of appeal but could not let it go this time. I opened my window and gave him some money. The look of surprise, the wish of God's blessing, wave of thanks, and nod of appreciation were priceless. I don't know where the or what he did with that money, but had to think of the message that it is all God's money!
Cari thank you for sharing your message and I wish you well in your studies.

Oh, the GOSPEL OF PROSPERITY.

And then, you have to give 10% to your pastor... and the pastor grows rich while Jesus didn't even own a donkey...
