Parenting the Son of God - John Van Sloten
December 18, 2011
|We continue our advent series on parenting by looking at Jesus' mother Mary. Can you imagine parenting the Son of God?
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (which means God with us)"
The prophet Isaiah 7:14, TNIV
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:38, TNIV
"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6, TNIV
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Elizabeth to Mary in Luke 1:45, TNIV
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. (God sees you!)
From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
Luke 1:46-50, TNIV
