Media @ New Hope CalgaryWith this message we begin a three week series on relationships. First up we’re going to talk about intimacy, part 2 listening, and last, but never least, forgiving.

“Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires...”
Song of Solomon 2:7, the Bible

May the wine go straight to my lover, flowing gently over lips and teeth.
I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me.

Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside, let us spend the night in the villages.
Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom, there I will give you my love.
The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my lover.
Song of Solomon 7:9-14, the Bible

“All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:12

Lev. 18 and 19 will explain about sexual immorality and give you a little understanding in how God views homosexuality. Intimacy is separate from sexuality..they can intermingle but are not the same. Intimacy is a closeness, relationship based connection to another. GOD desires an initmate relationship with us (His children) this can be accomplished by accepting and proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour and asking Holy Spirit to come into your heart and lead and guide you.

Good question Chloe. Part of me wants to say that intimacy is much bigger than just sex. And it's true. Our culture equates the two; wrongly I think. I think there is an intimacy with Christ that is greater than any other intimacy (and it's more than enough… easy to say as a happily married man though!). Which doesn't answer the homosexuality part of your question. I'm still working through that issue myself (and have developed my view considerably over the past few years). But I'm not there yet in terms of a final answer. I find this website helpful though -

"You were made to experiences of intimacy."
How does that pan out for people who are struggling with homosexuality within the church?
