Godopolis; the spiritual truth of the city - John Van Sloten

|Part 2 on city. Why an urban world God? What do cities teach us about you?
“This is a day for all Calgarians to be proud that we live in a city rich in generousity, in kindness and in spirit.”
Val Fortney, Calgary Herald, Tuesday January 22, 2008 (re: what?)
“You are my hiding place! You protect me from trouble, and you put songs in my heart because you have saved me.”
Psalm 32:7, CEV
“The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations
will be brought into it.”
Revelation 21:24-5 re: the new heaven on earth city!
“In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself, I’m not large enough to call the whole person into activity. Now that Charles is dead, I will never see Ronald(Tolkein)’s reaction to his jokes.
Far from having more of Ronald, now that Charles is gone
I have less of Ronald.”
C. S. Lewis reflecting on how when his friend Charles Williams died, he thought he’d have more his other friend Tolkien to himself, but found out something different
“I want to run, I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls, that hold me inside
I want to reach out and touch the flame
Where the streets have no name”
U2, Where the Streets have no name (a cry for that new city)
