Media @ New Hope CalgaryWeek two in our series on Relationality. What does it really mean to love another person? How does our relational status impact how we love?

“I think one of the most difficult things about being single for this long is not the being single, like everybody thinks; it’s how many times you live through this pain, that is the pain either of being rejected or of having to reject someone...”
Love me, Love me Not, page 13, Laura A. Smit

“But now, this is what the LORD says he who created you... he who formed you... "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine... "Yet you have not called upon me... you have not wearied yourselves for me...”
Isaiah 43:1, 2, 3, 22

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Jesus in John 15:13

“Happiness comes more from loving than being loved; and often when our affection seems wounded it is only our vanity bleeding. To love, and to be hurt often, and to love again - this is the brave and happy life.”
J. E. Buchrose

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.”
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Lifelong our stumbles, lifelong our regret,
Lifelong our efforts failing and renewed,
While lifelong is our witness, "God is good:"
Who bore with us till now, bears with us yet,
Christina Rossetti, Sonnet 11

I created my own quote, "In this world of great or worse, whenever I may go, I will always travel on my own". is like single life has chosen me.

Watched both parts 1 and 2. Liked the first part better. As far as the second part is concerned - let us be honest here, there are no simple answers to why people suffer - be it from being lonely, feeling rejected, or other things in life. The only thing we can do is to create a meaning out of it. Make your experience meaningful somehow. The video is an attempt to assign some meaning to the feeling of rejection that singles often feel. At least it is a valid attempt, but not strong enough...

PLEASE don't waste your life!
Live it to the full!
Too many religious types tell you to despise this life,
setting aside your plans and passions
to "set aside treasures in heaven."
Or else they threaten you with terrible lies
about an eternal torture chamber operated by "the god of love."
I mean, that's pretty stupid, right?

THIS life is all you have.
The "life after death" is a bronze-age myth.

"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery!
None but ourselves can free our minds!"
- Bob Marley
